The Little Purple Book Announcement
Thom Quinn, the Personal Productivity Expert, soon will be publishing The Little Purple Book of Productivity, a life management guidebook for anyone who wants to get more done with less time, energy, and resources.
The Little Purple Book of Productivity is the culmination of ten years of research into the subject. Thom Quinn explodes the myths of multitasking, technological as a magic bullet, and the idea that productivity is speed-dependent. The Little Purple Book of Productivity demonstrates that productivity is the result of completing the right things in the best way. The keys are correctly aligning both effectiveness and efficiency.
The Dare!
In April 2006, while having lunch with Phil Gerbyshak, The Relationship Geek, and the author of Make It Great, I boasted that I could easily produce a productivity volume based on simple and timeless principles that would have been as useful to people in 1900 as it would be in 2100. The manual would include a practical time-management system that would produce results that were not dependent on any arcane methodologies or tied to any particular technology. He looked me in the eye, smiled, and said “Then Do It. I Dare You!” Part I of this book will be the ripe fruit of that challenge as it focuses on how to be productivity yesterday, today, or tomorrow. This section will require little editing for future editions as it the heart of the volume. Part II will look at a few current-day issues (email, instant messengers) and offer the best practices so you can get twice the juice from half the fruit.
